About the Organization: The Rape Recovery Center is a non-profit organization that provides services to victims of sexual violence and education to the community.
About the Position: The Sexual Assault Victim Advocate will provide direct services to survivors of sexual violence through advocacy, short-term structured coping skill development, and support groups. Candidate must have experience working with a varied clientele in both English and Spanish. This job requires a person who is task oriented, has excellent verbal and written communication skills and enjoys working with a diverse staff and volunteer team. Full-Time, 32-hours per week, eligible for benefits. Monday-Thursday within the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Special Requirements/Qualifications:
- Must be fluent in both Spanish and English (no exceptions)
- Should have a Bachelor’s Degree related to the human services field, OR at least five years of relevant experience, OR an equivalent combination of practical and academic experience
- Desired Qualifications:
- Applicants with a strong understanding and interest in social justice are encouraged to apply.
- 40-hour state mandated crisis counselor certification
- Outstanding communication skills, including writing, de-escalation, crisis intervention, and listening
- Ability to work well with and inspire confidence in volunteers and clients
- Understanding of micro, mezzo and macro systems and their impact on survivors
- Experience with case management, crisis advocacy, working with vulnerable populations (LGBTQI+, Homeless, Pacific Islanders, American Indian/Native American, undocumented immigrants)
Estimated Salary: $16-$17/hour DOE with an opportunity for dollar increase per 90-day evaluation + Annual sick/vacation accrual, Health and dental insurance, Paid Federal holidays and PTO
