About the Organization: Church World Service (CWS) is a not-for-profit organization working to eradicate hunger and poverty and to promote peace and justice around the world.
About the Position: This position ensures that mental, medical health and trauma healing needs of our clients are identified and treated and that refugees are provided the orientation, information and preventative core services to access appropriate services and manage their health challenges in a timely manner ensuring their self sufficiency. A valid driver’s license is required; the candidate will be expected to transport clients in their own vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed) and must have a reliable working car for this purpose.
Special Requirements/Qualifications:
- The successful candidate must have a minimum of 1 year’s previous work experience in refugee or immigrant-related services, providing familiarity with U.S. refugee and/or immigration issues and terminology.
- Experience working with churches or church-based organizations is preferred.
- A background in human service delivery is desirable; University degree in Human Services or equivalent preferred.
- English required; Ability to speak additional languages such as Tigrigna, Swahili, Arabic or Kurdish is desired.
Estimated Salary: $25,000 – $27,000 + benefits (Living wage in Harrisonburg is estimated to be $23,804)
