About the Organization: IBPA is a not-forprofit trade association of 3,000 small to mid-size publishers located throughout the United States. Founded in 1983, the organization’s mission is to support its members through education, cooperative marketing programs, benefits and advocacy.
About the Position: IBPA is looking for highly motivated interns to be part of the book publishing industry’s largest and most influential association for independent book publishers. Working under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Publishing Association Intern provides support in the areas of member activities and communication, event preparation, and data management. This business operates in a Mac environment.
Function of Work: To serve as assistant and administrative support, specifically as it relates to membership activities for the Independent Book Publishers Association. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in association management, publishing and communications. From digital publishing to traditional publishing, from e-books to print books and everything in between, you are sure to learn the latest trends in an exciting industry that never stops changing.
Special Requirements/Qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills a must
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of social networking
- Positive attitude and strong customer service skills
- Proficiency with Internet tools, HTML, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Basic knowledge of managing web content a plus
- Familiarity with technology and social media are a plus.
Estimated Salary: $10/hour, at least 20 hours per week
