About the Organization: The Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law is a nonpartisan law and policy institute that seeks to improve systems of democracy and justice in the United States. We work to hold our political institutions and laws accountable to the twin American ideals of democracy and equal justice for all. Brennan Center’s work ranges from voting rights to campaign finance reform, from ending mass incarceration to preserving Constitutional protection in the fight against terrorism. Part think tank, part advocacy group, part cutting edge communications hub, we start with rigorous research. We craft innovative policies. And we fight for them – in Congress and the states, the courts, and in the court of public opinion.
About the Position: We are seeking an intern to provide administrative and clerical support to staff in our New York office in our Operations department. The intern will assist with general administrative and clerical work for the Brennan Center, including filing, photocopying, answering phones, shipping and mailing, coordinating meetings, drafting routine correspondence and covering the reception desk. Additionally, there will be opportunities to attend and observe substantive meetings, events, and conversations on program work. Intern will assist the Operations Coordinator and occasionally the Executive Assistant with research projects, data entry, event set -up, reception, and various projects to increase office productivity and morale. This internship will be 15-25 hours per week, for the Fall 2018 semester.
Special Requirements/Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate is an independent, self-starter; detail-oriented; energetic; creative; punctual; and highly organized.
- Intern must also have excellent research, writing, and analytical skills, as well as a passion for our issues. Must be open to evolving responsibilities.
- Experience with Database and Outlook experience is very helpful.
- This internship is only open to current undergraduate students.
Estimated Salary: $13.25/hour, 15-25 hours/week
