About the Position:
Operations
We are looking for a passionate, strategic individual to join The Hood Incubator for three – six months as our Operations Fellow. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with operations, systems, and communications in a non-profit organization focused on equity and racial justice. Reporting directly to the Fellowship Manager, the Operations Fellow will be a critical member of our team by managing the Hood Incubator’s website and database while helping to build out organizational culture and operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage THI website; Use CRM to update, add and edit content to THI website; Monitor analytics to evaluate and improve the site; Help research and build systems and infrastructure related to the website and database – ~50% of time
- Help to grow and lead internal operations; Work with Co-Directors and Fellowship Manager to create organizational operations manual; Lead at least one documentation project to help create processes and procedure to achieve efficient, organized systems; Provide administrative support to team as needed – ~50% of time
Communications & Media
We are looking for a passionate, strategic individual to join The Hood Incubator for three – six months as our Communications and Media Fellow. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with traditional communications and social media marketing in a non-profit organization focused on equity and racial justice. Reporting directly to the Fellowship Manager, the Communications and Media Fellow will be a critical member of our team by managing the Hood Incubator’s external correspondence and serving as the voice of THI.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond to and/or delegate all incoming correspondences to THI inboxes (IG, FB, Gmail, Website, Twitter, Hootsuite)
- Manage Social Media platforms (IG, FB, Twitter)
Media and PR Planning (co-develop and implement internal and external messaging for THI through op-eds, press releases, video, photo, and other forms of media)
Economic Development
We are looking for a passionate, strategic individual to join The Hood Incubator for three- six months as our Economic Development Fellow. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with facilitation, research, and economic policy for a social change organization while promoting marijuana, equity and racial justice. Reporting directly to the Fellowship Manager, the Economic Development Fellow will be a critical member of our programs team by supporting our Accelerator and Apprenticeship programs and setting the groundwork for our future Co-Op project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide coordination and support for the Hood Incubator Accelerator; Manage logistics and develop schedule for Accelerator-Mentor meetings; Serve as primary communicator with Accelerator participants and Mentors ~50% of time
Provide coordination and support for the Hood Incubator Apprenticeship program; Recruit business partners to host apprentices; Facilitate and coordinate logistics for Apprenticeship meetings; Serve as primary communicator with Apprenticeship participants ~35% of time
Provide coordination and support for the Hood Incubator Accelerator; Manage logistics and develop schedule for Accelerator-Mentor meetings; Serve as primary communicator with Accelerator participants and Mentors ~50% of time
Provide coordination and support for the Hood Incubator Apprenticeship program; Recruit business partners to host apprentices; Facilitate and coordinate logistics for Apprenticeship meetings; Serve as primary communicator with Apprenticeship participants ~35% of time
Set the groundwork for Hood Incubator Co-Op Project
Conduct outreach to inform program development
Participant in strategy and visioning meetings to develop program
~15% of time
Special Requirements/Qualifications:
- High attention to detail
- Knowledge or experience in non-profit administration, operations, facilities or reception
- Quick learner; self-starter; adaptable; solutions-oriented; self-aware and well-suited to a fast-paced startup environment
- Demonstrates integrity and strives for excellence in their work
- Grounded in social/racial justice values
- Passionate about The Hood Incubator’s mission and able to promote and communicate the philosophy, mission and values of The Hood Incubator to external and internal stakeholders
- Must be Bay-Area based
- Must be at least age 21
Operations:
1 year experience with CRMs, experience with WIX is a plus
Communications and Media:
1 year background in writing and editing press releases / op-eds
1 year background in professional social media messaging
Economic Development:
1-2 years experience with event or meeting planning and facilitation
1-2 years familiarity with economic development programs and/or policy including co-ops, apprenticeships, incubators, accelerators or other related programs
Estimated Salary: $20/hour, 15 hours/week, 3-6 months
