About the Organization: The Center for Creative Works is a unique, creative day service program with a focus on arts and arts based skill-building, education, in-house generated vocational opportunities and community involvement for people with developmental/intellectual disabilities. Opportunities and choices are offered throughout the day on many levels of involvement from growth and promotion of personal bodies of artwork to skill building. About the Position: The Product Coordinator (PC) will facilitate with the mentoring, guiding, coordination and implementation of sculpture and mixed media related activities and production at CCW. In addition to actual sculpture processes, the PC will work to design possible products which can be produced at CCW, take Participant Artist designs from paper to product, research sales venues, and to some degree bring CCW created products to market with the help of the Exhibitions Coordinator. This position works to fulfill the CCW commitment to transfer participants work to viable products and integrate them into a larger market in order to continue to build vocational, inclusion based opportunities for CCW participants. The PC is responsible for performing all of the duties involved in sculptural and mixed media processes.
Special Requirements/Qualifications: Individuals applying to this position should have experience in diverse sculptural techniques, the ability to work with various materials, and ideally some product development experience. This position entails working directly with our artists, teaching skills, and some administrative work. Clear artistic vision, and interest in creating marketable as well as artistic products is crucial. Other important traits include self-motivation, problem solving skills, creativity, organizational skills and knowledge of the equipment.
• Interest in working with artists with intellectual disabilities
• Bachelor’s degree in Art with strong skill base and personal studio practice.
• Strong background in Sculpture arts and knowledge of sculptural elements – woodshop skills preferred but not neccesary
• Ability to lift at least 40 pounds
