Details and Requirements: Public Health Services is dedicated to community wellness and health protection in San Diego County. Public Health Services work to prevent epidemics and the spread of disease, protect against environmental hazards, prevent injuries, promote and encourage healthy behaviors, respond to disasters, and assist communities in recovery and assure the quality and accessibility of health services throughout the county. Communicable Disease Investigators perform non-criminal investigations, counseling, and educational work in public health laws, rules, and regulations that govern HIV disease, sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis, and other communicable or infectious diseases. The ideal candidate will be able to engage in conversation with a wide variety of individuals, discussing highly sensitive topics including medical and personal information such as sexual history and practices, in order to conduct thorough investigations/interviews. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in a health related science; OR, Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral, social or natural science, or a closely related field AND one (1) year of experience in communicable disease investigations; see website for more alternatives of prior experience. $51,833.60 – $63,668.80 Annually
