Details and Requirements: The mission of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) is to help people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future. The Goat Project Assistant will provide operational and program assistance to the East African Refugee Goat Co-op project, assisting in goat herd management, infrastructure expansion and upkeep, working on grazing jobs, and assisting in engagement with partners, volunteers, and refugee community members. Additionally, the Goat Project Assistant will provide administrative support to the project in maintaining records and collecting range management data.

Requirements: Experience in the areas of farming, ranching, animal husbandry or a related field preferred; Ability to learn goat herding and land management techniques; Fluency in English, with bilingual ability in language of refugee groups participating (Somali Bantu, Somali Banjuni, and/or Burundi) preferred; Demonstrated strong experience in working with refugee populations preferred; Able to work on rough terrain and complete physically intensive tasks related to range improvements and goat raising, including lifting up to 70 lbs; Valid driver’s license, active insurance policy and access to reliable transportation; Willingness to work some weekends and evenings during kidding season. Must be flexible.
