About the Organization: Children’s Rights is a national non-profit organization that uses the law to bring about meaningful reform in government agencies that provide foster care, adoptive, juvenile justice, and child protective services.
About the Position: We are seeking a full-time, entry-level paralegal to join our active litigation program and support our commitment to reforming services for children in state custody. Responsibilities of the paralegal position include conducting legal research, providing support to attorneys in case management, managing case press, and collaborating on case-specific projects. Applicants should be able to start in the summer and must be prepared to make a two-year commitment to the position.
Special Requirements/Qualifications:
- Must have a B.A. or a B.S. We will not consider applicants who hold a J.D. degree.
- A commitment to reform on behalf of children is essential.
- Knowledge of children’s issues, social services, social justice, civil rights, LGBTQI issues, and/or juvenile justice is a plus.
- Organizational, writing, interpersonal and communication skills; be proactive in their approach to professional duties; have a team-oriented mindset and strong work ethic; be flexible and willing to work simultaneously on a wide range of tasks and projects; and be able to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people with diverse backgrounds and with staff on all levels of a complex organization. Exceptional computer and technical skills (including Microsoft Office) and the ability to multitask are required.
Estimated Salary: $40,000 plus benefits
