About the Organization: EPI conducts research and analysis on the economic status of working Americans and their families and proposes policies to protect and improve their economic well-being.

About the Position: The Economic Policy Institute (EPI), the nation’s leading progressive economic think tank, is looking for a Communications Assistant to support the communications department on a wide variety of tasks. Working closely with EPI’s Publications, Web, and Media Relations staff, the Communications Assistant will help EPI educate policymakers, advocates, and the media about policies that will improve the lives of working people.

Special Requirements/Qualifications:

  • The Communications Assistant should be energetic and highly motivated, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, familiarity with economic issues and progressive politics, and strong attention to detail. Must be able work on multiple projects at once, be highly organized, and work independently to complete tasks.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience using Microsoft Word and Excel. Basic familiarity with HTML, and a working knowledge of communications tools such as WordPress, Cision, ActionNetwork, and Mailchimp is a plus.
  • Preferred experience: Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience; Up to 3 years’ experience in online communications, media relations, journalism, or policy. Dedication to EPI’s mission of ensuring that the nation’s economic policy focuses on the needs of low- and middle-income workers and their families is strongly preferred.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 – $47,000, plus benefits.
