West Virginia Study Coordinator, Youth Empowerment at Policy & Research Group

About the Position: The person hired will be coordinating the Youth Empowerment Study, a federally-funded study of a trauma-informed health education program designed to reduce teen pregnancy and related risk behaviors in at-risk youth 14-19 years of age; the program is designed for youth in under-resourced systems, such as juvenile justice-involved youth. PRG is conducting a randomized control trial (RCT) to test the efficacy of this program, which requires the administration of questionnaires to participants at baseline (enrollment), three months post-enrollment, six months post-enrollment, and 12 months post-enrollment. The study facilitator will be responsible for enrolling participants into the study and executing data collection, data management, and quality assurance tasks in accordance with study protocols; the study facilitator will also be responsible for implementing the innovative program being tested to fidelity with study participants assigned to the treatment group. PRG will provide specific training for this position. Reliable and consistent transportation required; Ability to work a flexible schedule; some evening and weekend hours will be required.

This position will be based in three counties in West Virginia (Brooke Hancock, Marion, and Harrison County). The study facilitator will work from juvenile justice services offices where the study is being implemented within the region; regular travel between the sites will be required. The study facilitator will also be engaged in field work, meeting with study participants at multiple community-based offices/public locations in the region.This position requires local and out-of-state travel. Reliable and consistent transportation is required. Travel and local mileage will be reimbursed.

Special Requirements/Qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. required
  • 0-1 years research experience and education/facilitation experience with youth or health programs
  • Strong interest and/or experience in conducting high-quality research
  • Comfortable talking and working with adolescents
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail; Excellent communication skills and computer skills, including Word and Excel
  • Commitment to PRG’s mission: To improve the potential of people through scientifically rigorous research and evaluation that benefits our clients and influences policy

Estimated Salary: $18/hour + benefits
