About the Organization: UU Mass Action organizes Unitarian Universalists to support front-line social justice movements around the state. We prioritize campaigns that bring people into proximity with injustice, allow for personal transformation, and follow the leadership of those directly impacted. By mentoring and coaching those who are willing to support front line groups, we build the capacity of UUs to do spiritually grounded justice work.
About the Position: UU Mass Action currently seeks a part time organizer to take a leadership role in our climate justice campaigns. The organizer will have significant autonomy on a day to day basis, and in collaboration with the executive director and other staff organizers will shape the direction of the organization’s climate campaigns, as well as support UU Mass Action’s other campaign work. One of the first tasks of the organizer will be to do an evaluation of climate justice campaigns to support.
This position can be based anywhere within Massachusetts and requires some travel and evening and weekend hours. This is a half time (20 hrs/week) position.
Special Requirements/Qualifications:
- Writing clearly
- Willingness and ability to travel around the state (public transit or car rental a possibility)
- Google docs, email, cell phone, encrypted messaging (signal or whatsapp)
- Willingness to support and mentor Unitarian Universalists
- Ability to speak Spanish a plus
Estimated Salary: $26,000 per year for 20 hours/week. Expenses such as transportation to actions, office supplies, actions supplies, etc are budgeted for and covered by the organization. The position includes vacation time, and a liberal attitude towards flex time.
