Through the LGBT & HIV Project, founded in 1986, the ACLU seeks to create a just society for all LGBT people and people living with HIV regardless of race or income. About the Position:
• Clerical duties: Handle general clerical duties, including processing invoices, generating expense reports, ordering supplies, etc.; Maintain database of all Project expenses, including travel and case costs; Schedule meetings and conference calls, and prepare relevant material; Manage the Project Director’s calendar; Handle travel arrangements; Maintain and organize electronic and hard copy filing systems; Answer telephones, route calls, and take messages; Copy, mail, and perform other clerical duties as assigned; Provide administrative support for manager review of job applications
• Legal: Conduct research, including internet research; Prepare, type, and proofread legal and other documents
• Work jointly with interns and communicate routine and/or procedural guidance on projects assigned by managers
• Demonstrate a commitment to diversity within the office using a personal approach that values all individuals and respects differences in regards to race, ethnicity, age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ability and socio-economic circumstance
• Commitment to work collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving obstacles and/or conflicts
Special Requirements/Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree and/or 1-2 years’ work experience preferred, but not required
• Commitment to the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and people living with HIV
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; excellent telephone manner
• Excellent writing and proofreading skills
