About the Organization: SFMade is a California 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, established in 2010 and headquartered in San Francisco. It is the only organization of its kind focused on building San Francisco’s economic base by developing the local manufacturing sector. About the Position: SFMade is offering a fall internship to an experienced graduate student or recent college graduate with a focus on data collection and analysis for the annual State of Local Manufacturing survey and report. The data collected in this survey will illuminate opportunities and trends throughout San Francisco’s rapidly evolving manufacturing landscape. It will be used to describe the state of the local manufacturing sector, including its overall size, employment characteristics, and key needs. This critical information, will inform programs developed by SFMade and the annual Made Here book. Essential Functions:
• Manage the primary data collection from SFMade member companies for the annual State of Local Manufacturing survey
• Integrate data collected into Salesforce database and analyze, looking for year over year patterns in San Francisco’s manufacturing sector
• Prepare a report describing the current state of San Francisco’s manufacturing sector and detailing trends in real estate, workforce, subsectors, demographics, and other key areas
• Coordinate with SFMade staff on the integration of survey data into the annual Made Here book
Special Requirements/Qualifications: • Graduate student or recent college graduate – Background in public policy, urban planning, economic development, or business preferred
• Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills
• Experience designing and implementing surveys desired
• Experience analyzing economic or survey data
• Must be able to tackle tasks with minimal supervision
• Interest in manufacturing as a engine for equity and economic development
Estimated Salary: $20/hr, 10-15 hours/wk, minimum commitment of 8 weeks
