Details and Requirements: Amara works to ensure that every child in foster care has the love, support, and comfort of a committed family – as quickly as possible, and for as long as each child needs. Amara is dedicated to meeting our strategic plan goal of being accountable for every child in our care until they are in a safe and stable home committed to their lifelong well-being. The Community Coordinator will report to Amara’s Pierce County Director and work closely with CASA and Pierce County Juvenile Court to help grow and strengthen the Best For Babies Court program, which is similar to an evidence-based court model supported by National ZERO TO THREE which has been shown to improve outcomes for babies and toddlers in the child welfare system. Initial outcomes of the pilot in Pierce County have been promising. Amara is committed to funding this position for 3 years as the program strengthens and grows. The Community Coordinator facilitates collaboration among families, caregivers, the court, CASA, and community stakeholders. The Coordinator serves as a bridge-builder across the many disciplines involved with infants and toddlers in foster care.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or related field (Master’s degree preferred); Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team; Case and program management experience preferred; Knowledge of infant and child development and family systems; Ability to develop positive relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds; Cross-cultural competence relative to age, religion, race, culture, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, and gender identity; Knowledge of child welfare, infant mental health, and family systems; Experience/familiarity with juvenile and family court proceedings a plus. A valid Washington State driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and proof of auto insurance ~ Salary: $45,000-$50,000, DOE. Generous personal leave and benefits package.
