About the Organization: The Citizen Science Association (CSA) is a member-driven organization that connects people from a wide range of experiences around one shared purpose: advancing science done by, for, and with members of the public.
About the Position: CSA has an immediate opportunity for an energetic and detail-oriented contractor to help foster and manage efforts to engage our widely distributed community of members, practitioners, and scholars in the field. This self-starter and team player will help ensure that CSA is able to serve and connect people in our dispersed community to each other, to our events and services, and to valuable content that can support their efforts to design, lead, manage and study effective public participation in research. This contract offers a foot in the door with an emerging, globally-connected non-profit in a cross-cutting sector, with a focus on supporting research, public engagement, and action/change through science.
Requires availability to attend CitSci2019 (March 13-17, Raleigh, NC). Ability to work effectively with a remote team and be accountable for time/deliverables. Estimated 20 hours per week, variable, with the exception of the CSA conference when full-time support is required. Remote position for work with a distributed team and community; may be some advantages for contractors based in New York City, Washington, D.C., or Raleigh, NC.Time frame: Available immediately; contract for 6-12 months dependent upon funding.
Special Requirements/Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be passionate about citizen science, and have skills including experience with in-person events, online group/member management platforms, WordPress, and social media. Interest in citizen science is required — concrete experience is preferred.
Estimated Salary: $22.50/hr
