About the Organization: The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is dedicated to saving and improving human and animal lives through plant-based diets and ethical and effective scientific research. Our vision is to create a healthier world through a new emphasis on plant-based nutrition, and scientific research conducted ethically, without using animals. The Physicians Committee’s Communications team works to maximize publicity for our campaigns, programs, and research studies through traditional and social media.
About the Position: Seeking a student or recent graduate with experience in video production and editing for part-time paid fellowship with nonprofit whose mission is to promote plant-based nutrition and scientific research conducted ethically, without using animals. The Simon Chaitowitz Video and Communications Fellow will assist with the recording and editing of our weekly Exam Room podcast and act as a camera and production assistant during the filming of our videos to support the Physicians Committee’s events, campaigns, programs, and fundraising efforts. The Simon Chaitowitz Video and Communications Fellow will be mentored by our Video Production Manager and other members our team of communications experts. Fellows may also have the opportunity to participate in campaign events, staff education sessions, Capitol Hill briefings, and other Physicians Committee activities. The fellow will receive a full-day orientation at the start of their fellowship and ongoing support from their staff mentor. This fellowship honors the late Ms. Simon Chaitowitz, a writer, public relations professional and longtime leader of the Physicians Committee’s communications department.
The Physicians Committee is located in the Metro-accessible Friendship Heights neighborhood in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will be able to work 8-24 hours per week, be able to come into the office on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays and commit at least 10 weeks to the fellowship. Start and end dates are flexible. The ideal start date will be around September 10, 2018.
Special Requirements/Qualifications:
- Experience shooting and editing videos
- Knowledge of Adobe Premiere and Microsoft Outlook
- Enthusiasm for the Physicians Committee’s mission to promote plant-based diets and scientific research conducted ethically, without using animals
- An educational background in video production, communications, media relations, or related field is preferred
Estimated Salary: $13.25 per hour
