About the Organization: The Global Catholic Climate Movement is a community of Catholic institutions and individuals responding to the Pope’s call to action in the Laudato Si’ encyclical. We are lay people, priests, religious, bishops and a global network of partners working together on the climate change crisis, to protect God’s creation, the poor–who are the most vulnerable to climate disruption–and our children, who will face the worst impacts in the coming years.
About the Position: This September, the Global Climate Action Summit will take place in San Francisco, a major event bringing together climate leaders from around the world. At this event, non-state actors will make their own commitments to reducing their greenhouse gas emissions. We are looking to bring on board a passionate, self-starting activist in the San Francisco region to assist in planning and implementing the Global Catholic Climate Movement presence at the main summit and affiliate events and activate the San Francisco Catholic community. This is a short-term, part-time position, and will work closely with the Organizing Director and other members of leadership team. This is a short-term contract of 10-12 hours/week, with more hours the week of the Global Climate Action Summit, and ending on Sept. 30, 2018. This position is remote, but must be based in the San Francisco area. Candidate must possess his/her computer and have reliable access to the Internet.
Special Requirements/Qualifications: • Knowledge with San Francisco, key locations, and geography of the region
• Experience managing events and event logistics
• Familiarity with key faith-based and secular environmental organizations. Ideal candidate would have contacts and experience working with the local Catholic community.
• Willingness to be available non-traditional hours as needed to support program needs
Estimated Salary: $1,500 for the term (10-12 hrs/wk thru Sept)
