Details and Requirements: City Blossoms is a nonprofit dedicated to fostering healthy communities by developing creative, kid-driven green spaces. Washington, DC is our home base where we test and innovate new resources, approaches, and techniques for designing and implementing urban gardens that are communal, educational, artistic expressions of their communities. Applying our unique brand of gardens, science, art, healthy living, and community building, we “blossom” in neighborhoods where kids, their families, and neighbors may not otherwise have access to green spaces.
The Part-Time Seasonal Community Green Spaces Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting program implementation based on guidance from the City Blossoms Strategic Plan and the Executive Director. Program implementation includes leading educational workshops, assisting with data collection, and coordinating partner activities and communications. The position will be based at the City Blossoms Studio but will require regular travel to up to three satellite sites throughout Washington. Qualifications: Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in Education or relevant field highly preferred; experience working with children, youth or in a community-based grassroots organization; experience gardening, farming or working in a nature education organization; experience working in diverse settings, on community-based initiatives, and directly with community members; experience designing educational lessons, activities, and resources; basic program monitoring and evaluation experience. Proficiency in either Spanish or Amharic is strongly preferred. The position requires 15 hours a week Tuesday-Saturday schedule from June 26th-August 30th with the ability to work between 9am and 8pm. $18-20/Hour depending on experience.
