Details and Requirements: The Legislative Assistant is the single full-time permanent staff member in the Senator’s Office. You will work in one of the most dynamic and fast-paced offices in the State Legislature. The position will challenge your knowledge and grow your skills. Qualifications: Undergraduate degree; Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills; Strong record of leadership in an academic, professional, and/or extracurricular setting; Ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the State Legislature; Communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing; A desire to better the state of North Carolina. The position is based in the North Carolina General Assembly in Raleigh, though working hours are flexible and vary greatly depending on Session. Senate Legislative Assistants are full-time salaried ($36,966 starting) with full state benefits whether or not the General Assembly is in session, typically January through mid-Summer in odd years and April through mid-Summer in even years.
