Details and Requirements: Born from a visionary merger between a Black organization and a Latin@ immigrant organization, Causa Justa :: Just Cause builds bridges of solidarity between working class communities of color. Through rights-based services, policy campaigns, civic engagement and direct action, we improve conditions in our neighborhoods in the San Francisco Bay Area, and contribute to building the larger multi-racial, multi-generational movement needed for fundamental change.
• Oakland Tenant Rights: We are hiring a full-time Tenant Counselor/Organizer positions to join the newly formed Housing, Land, & Development team to provide tenant counseling services for low-income tenants through our Tenant Rights Clinics, as well as organize working-class tenants in Oakland to help build a movement for stronger housing rights; Knowledge of issues related to tenants’ rights and the housing crisis in Oakland, San Francisco and the Bay Area; Familiarity with local history, geography of the city / neighborhoods, knowledge of various organizations, political issues, etc.; Experience with translation and interpretation (Spanish-English) – support members with interpretation at organizational meetings, as well as help translate documents from one language to another; Must be able to travel between Oakland and San Francisco. Salary starts at $45,000. Increase in starting salary possible depending on experience
• Black Priorities: The primary role of the BPP Lead Organizer is to oversee the coordination, development and implementation of the organizing project and to ensure it’s cohesion to the organization. The Black Priorities Project (BPP) is a long term organizing project intended to invest resources and capacity into the question of how to build social, economic and political power for Black people in the San Francisco Bay Area. Salary range is $48,000 – $60,000, depending on experience.
