Paralegal at Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Economic Justice

Details and Requirements: We seek an energetic Paralegal with good judgment and initiative to assist seven attorneys in serving a growing volume of clients, particularly as diverse communities in New England are confronting unprecedented civil rights challenges and hate crimes. The job is fast-paced and the duties will be varied and diverse. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree. Applicants must be extremely hard-working, highly self-motivated, and passionate about civil rights and racial justice. The ideal candidate will also have: Basic knowledge of legal terminology and basic understanding of legal systems and documents (preferably, experience in a similar position in a law office); Computer skills, especially for word processing, creating spreadsheets, and running mail merge; Excellent writing, editing, and analytical skills; Outstanding interpersonal skills; The ability to work productively and efficiently with minimal supervision. Language skills are strongly preferred, particularly the ability to communicate fluently in a language relevant to immigrant communities (including but not limited to Mandarin, Haitian Creole or Spanish), including the ability to speak, read, write, understand, and translate from one language to the other. The ideal start date is June 18, 2018 (and no later than July 9, 2018). This position is full time (40 hours / week).
