Independent Living Coordinator at Southeast Center for Independent Living, Inc

Location: Fall River Massachusetts

Details and Requirements: SCIL staff shall have a respect for disability issues and the independent living philosophy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)
— Provide direct services to disabled individuals, including skills training, peer counseling, information and referral and advocacy necessary for the attainment of Independent Living goals.
— Conduct training for disabled individuals and/or groups in skills necessary to live independently.
— Provide technical assistance relative to disability laws and consumers rights.
— Provide advocacy both individual and systems on issues impacting the disabled community such as housing, transportation and health care.
— Provide documentation of services provided using the Centers’ documentation system.
— Be responsible for quality assurance and performance standards required for this program.
— Responsible for intake and assessment. Assist in the development and fulfillment of consumers Independent Living Plans.
— Provide documentation of services provided using the Centers’ documentation in our Web-Based Independent Living Data (WILD) system.
— Meet with the Director of Programs and/or Executive Director at regular scheduled appointments for program progress.
— Attend scheduled staff meetings, in-service trainings, and education trainings
— Other duties as the Director of Programs and/Executive Director may require from time to time.

Qualifications: To perform this successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
o Must have knowledge of person centered planning.
o Must have knowledge and/or experience working with cross-disabilities and their families
o Must have knowledge of state agencies and the provider service system
o Must demonstrate knowledge of disability laws (ADA, housing, etc.)
o Must have valid driver’s license.
o Must have computer knowledge/experience.
o Must be Bi-lingual, Spanish speaking required.
o Must possess good verbal and written English skills.

Education and/or Experience
Must have an Associate’s degree in social work, human services, sociology, or psychology. This requirement may be substituted by five years of working in human services in a direct relationship with individuals served.
